Walailak University is driving One School One District Project, deploying science, research, and technology knowledge to address community issues. 

Associate Professor Dr. Siwarit Pongsakornrungsilp, Vice President of Walailak University, revealed on 4 January 2023, that Walailak is currently implementing a research policy for the research project titled “One School One District (OSOD)” to have research unit of each school or college within Walailak University conduct on-site studies, identify and analyze problems, and develop research plans to addressing community needs in Nakhon Si Thammarat. 

Researchers from various schools collaborate to apply their expertise in science, research, and technology to solve community problems, starting in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

Dr. Siwarit mentioned that the project originated from Walailak University's commitment to addressing community needs, aligning with the national 20-year strategic plan, the 13th National Economic and Social Development Plan for 2023-2027. and the provincial operational plan of Nakhon Si Thammarat for 2023-2024. The university allocated funds to support full proposal research, with each project receiving 60,000 baht. Every school conducted on-site research in various districts of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, involving district chiefs, government officials, and other organizations to address economic, social, environmental, health, and quality of life issues. 

"We've set research strategies to align with national goals while serving as a knowledge hub for society, with a focus on local problem-solving. We begin this in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and will extend to other areas through the network of our centers of excellence by leveraging their expertise. I would like to express gratitude to Nakhon Si Thammarat governor, deputy governor, district chief, officials, and participants for contributing to the meetings, allowing researchers to grasp local issues and needs that can be used to develop proposals for research projects and academic services, which will effectively solve problems for the areas," stated Dr. Siwarit.

Currently, Walailak University has 18 centers of excellence and five research centers, covering areas of economics, society, environment, health improvement, and overall national development knowledge.
