WU School of Pharmacy Hosts Academic Seminar on Chemopreventive Natural Products and Natural Products in Skincare with UK Scientists



Today, School of Pharmacy (SPM) at Walailak University (WU) organized an academic seminar to exchange knowledge with scientists from Center for Natural Products Discovery at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), the United Kingdom. The event took place at Chorpradu Chamber, Walailak University Hospital, with Assistant Professor Dr. Apichart Atipairin, Dean of SPM, presiding over the seminar. Attendees included Associate Professor Dr. Voravuth Somsak, Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, along with lecturers and staff from School of Law and School of Management.

This seminar is part of the Reinventing University Program, initiated by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation in 2020. Two key lectures delivered by LJMU scientists during the seminar focused on using phytochemicals or plant-derived compounds to prevent cancer by Professor Satyajit Sarker, and "The Magic of Natural Products in Skincare" by Dr. Lutfun Nahar.

 

SPM WU places significant emphasis on harnessing Thai wisdom and herbs to promote healthcare and wellness, as well as for beauty purposes. The school collaborates with researchers nationally and internationally to enhance the quality and acceptance of products, aligning with the Bio-Circular-Green Economic Model for sustainable growth.

Additionally, the school actively collaborates with universities in Asia and Europe, such as Yokoyama University of Pharmarcy (Japan), Kunming Medical University (China), University of San Carlos (Philippines), National University of Singapore (Singapore), and the Czech Academy of Sciences (Czech Republic), to promote research and facilitate student and staff mobility.
