Walailak University Organizes Orientation for International Students



Walailak University’s Center for International Affairs (CIA) organized an orientation for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate international students today at Khaoluang Chamber, Cooperative Education Building. The event featured presentations of information that international students need to know, such as campus life, visa information, and Thai culture.

     
     Walailak University Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surin Maisrikrod presided at the event and briefed the students about Walailak University, such as the growth of the university in the past six years which he described as an “era of change” under the leadership of Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong; The university progresses in many areas and has an increasing number of freshmen. 
     
     The university’s quality teaching is assured by the implementation of the UK professional standard framework (UKPSF) which enhances students centered learning, improving critical thinking, analytical thinking, and creative thinking of students as well as providing lecturers with up-to-date teaching methods. 
   
     The university also focuses on the publication of world-class research in Scopus Index Q1 and Q2 as it was classified by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation as a research-intensive university of the nation.
   
     Even though in October 2022, Walailak University entered THE World University Rankings for the first time at 1501+ among 1,799 universities around the world that were assessed; Associate Prof. Dr. Surin said: “there is always room for improvement and all your feedbacks are always welcome.” "Hope you have a great time studying at Walailak University. And please make Walailak University your home,” added Assistant Prof. Dr. Patnarin Supakorn, the Director of CIA.
   
     At the end of the orientation, the international students got to know each other, played games, and learned some Thai gestures and culture. They also got the know more about Walailak University through an experience-sharing session by a current international student. And after the orientation, the CIA took them on a campus tour and a city tour of Nakhon si Thammarat.
