Walailak University brought a delegation of executives and faculty members to Triam Udom Suksa School of the South for the "Walailak to School" event, offering academic and career guidance to more than 800 Mathayom 5–6 (Grade 11–12) students.

The visit also reinforced the university's vision of becoming a world-class institution and marked the celebration of a record-breaking achievement: new student enrollment for the 2026 academic year surpassed 4,000, with the highest average grade point average since the university's founding.

On June 30, 2026, Walailak University's Division of Corporate Communications held the "Walailak to School 2026" event to inspire students and help them identify the right programs and fields of study at the university level. Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, led a team of executives and faculty representatives from every academic program at the university in joining roughly 800 Mathayom 5–6 (Grade 11–12) students at Triam Udom Suksa School of the South.

A highlight of the event was a special lecture by Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong titled "Studying at Walailak University: A World-Class University." The lecture centered on the message that Walailak University is now a world-class institution, as reflected in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, which placed the university in the 1,201+ band overall and 6th in Thailand among more than 26,000 universities worldwide. Professor Dr. Sombat described the recognition as an important milestone for the university as it works to cultivate graduates who meet international standards.

"Walailak University will keep developing steadily so that we remain among the country's leading higher-education institutions, giving our students greater access to internationally recognized, quality education," Professor Dr. Sombat said.

Ms. Sopha Saiwasri, Director of Triam Udom Suksa School of the South, reflected on the significance of the day, noting that Walailak University ranks among the top choices for students pursuing higher education. She said the school considered it a great honor to host the university's activities on campus, as the event gave students access to a wider range of fields of study to consider for their futures.

The program also featured a session titled "Meet, Share, and Discuss: English Teaching Skills for International Excellence," led by Associate Professor Dr. Surin Maisrikrod, Vice President of Walailak University. He held an informal exchange with the school's English-language teachers to discuss ways to make learning English more engaging and enjoyable for students.

In addition, an open forum titled "Pathways to Walailak University: The Right Program, the Career You Love" brought together Assistant Professor Dr. Neeranat Kaewprasert Rakangthong, Director of the Center for Educational Services, along with representatives of executives and faculty from every program at the university, who spoke directly with students about their options.

The 2026 academic year has proven to be a milestone year for the university's student recruitment, with a record 4,132 new students enrolling — the highest number in the university's history. This year's incoming class also has an average cumulative GPA (GPAX) of 3.46, the highest since the university's founding.
