Walailak University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Surin Maisrikrod, Vice President, received a 30,000 Baht donation from Mr. Phairot Kidjaidiao, Managing Director, and Ms. Wararat Kidjaidiao from RHVAC SYSTEM ENGINEERING COMPANY LIMITED, today (10 November 2023) at Center for International Affairs (CIA) Meeting Room.

The donation will be placed into Walailak University International Exchange Scholarship (WUIES), aiming to support students' experiences in short courses abroad.

Participating in the event were Dr. Mongkol Teerananond, Assistant to the President; Assistant Professor Dr. Fareeda Jeh-oh, Assistant to the President; and staff members from the CIA, Center for Cooperative Education and Career Development, Division of Finance and Accounting, and Division of Corporate Communication.

Associate Professor Dr. Surin Maisrikrod expressed gratitude to Mr. Phairot and Ms. Wararat for supporting the university’s scholarship. He said that experiencing life abroad is a turning point that enhances quality of life for many students. “Not only will the students be able to improve their English skills, a direct benefit of going abroad, but they will also enhance their self-confidence, develop their personalities, and broaden their perspectives of the world,” he said.

Mr. Phairot Kidjaidiao thanked the university members for the warm welcome. He said that he typically chooses to make donations to hospitals or educational institutions, particularly for students with limited resources, and this scholarship aligns with his interests. “If Walailak University has any projects that need support in the future, I am really happy and willing to help as much as I can,” he said.

WUIES was initiated in July 2023 by Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President, to support students in gaining international experiences. Walailak University places a strong emphasis on cultivating students to be morally strong, academically excellent, and possess professional skills capable of competing at the international level.

Since the establishment in 1992, Walailak University has undergone many transformations. In 2022, the university achieved a milestone by entering the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023 and was ranked 1,501+ globally. In 2023, for the second consecutive year, the university ascended in the world rankings, securing a position at 1201-1500 worldwide, reflecting significant progress as a young university.
