Walailak University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with RISE Accel Co., Ltd. to foster technology startups and spin-offs, strengthen innovation capabilities, and promote strategic investment in deep tech. The partnership aims to translate the university’s research into sustainable commercial applications.

The signing ceremony, organized by the Walailak University Science and Technology Park (WUSTP), took place on October 8, 2026, in the Mokhalan Meeting Room of the Professor Dr. Wichit Srisa-an Building on the university campus. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwarit Pongsakornrungsilp, Vice President for Research and Innovation, signed on behalf of Walailak University, and Dr. Supachai Parchariyanon, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder, signed on behalf of RISE Accel. Executives and staff from both organizations witnessed the signing.

Under the three-year agreement, the two parties will establish mechanisms to help turn university research and technologies into innovation-driven businesses, including high-potential startups and spin-offs. The collaboration will also strengthen innovation and entrepreneurial skills among students, researchers, and staff, and will develop frameworks for managing strategic investment in advanced technologies.

The event also featured an intellectual property (IP) matching session, in which Walailak University researchers presented selected technologies and innovations and exchanged views with private-sector participants on business development and market needs.

The program continued with a presentation on the university’s approach to commercializing research, followed by a tour of the Center of Excellence for Innovation and Products. The visit allowed both sides to share expertise and explore future collaboration on technology and innovation development.

WUSTP is committed to serving as a bridge between research, technology, and business, helping turn innovations into real-world applications and supporting the growth of technology-based enterprises. Through these efforts, it aims to strengthen Thailand’s innovation ecosystem and make it more resilient and sustainable.
