
Walailak University Demonstration School recently held an orientation meeting for parents of its first cohort of students from Grade 1, Grade 7, and Grade 10, strengthening collaboration between the school and families in nurturing students’ academic excellence and future-ready skills ahead of the official opening of the first semester on May 18, 2026.
On May 11, 2026, Walailak University Demonstration School organized a parent meeting for students enrolled in its inaugural academic year. The event aimed to foster cooperation between the school and parents in supporting students’ holistic development in both academic achievement and future-oriented competencies.
The event was honored by the presence of Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, who delivered a welcome address and special lecture. Also attending were Associate Professor Dr. Charun Bunyakan, Vice President for Academic Affairs in Humanities and Social Sciences; Dr. Santi Nadee, Acting Director of Walailak University Demonstration School; along with administrators, faculty members, parents, and students. The meeting took place at Room 1310, Lecture Building 1, Walailak University.

Professor Dr. Sombat stated that the university is committed to developing Walailak University Demonstration School into a model educational institution recognized for international academic excellence while firmly grounded in morality, ethics, and Thai values. He emphasized that the school’s mission goes beyond academic achievement by also focusing on cultivating students’ analytical thinking, innovation, and digital technology skills.
He further explained that the school will serve as an “educational laboratory” for the university, dedicated to developing modern learning innovations and designing curricula that respond to the rapidly changing demands of the 21st century. The ultimate goal is to prepare students to become capable and responsible global citizens.

Associate Professor Dr. Charan highlighted the university’s commitment to educational development that values humanity alongside academic excellence. The school’s learning approach, therefore, promotes not only knowledge and life skills, but also morality, ethics, and pride in Thai identity. He also stressed the importance of strong communication and cooperation among parents, teachers, and the school community as a key foundation for developing future generations into valuable contributors to society and the nation.

Meanwhile, Dr. Santi presented the school’s vision, educational management system, and student support framework to parents. He explained that Walailak University Demonstration School was established under the vision of Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong to provide high-quality international-standard education across all levels, from basic to higher education.
The school is committed to developing students into well-rounded global citizens rooted in Thai identity while encouraging innovation for a sustainable world. The school also aims to become a model institution for international-standard education, a professional training center for future teachers, and a research and innovation hub for the School of Education at Walailak University.
The school follows Thailand’s Basic Education Core Curriculum (Revised B.E. 2560/ 2017), with strong emphasis on English-medium instruction and a Science-Mathematics Commercial Program. Learning is delivered through Active Learning approaches, with particular focus on financial literacy and the application of artificial intelligence (AI). The school aims to equip students with the ability to effectively use, command, and create AI for maximum benefit while also developing essential soft skills, leadership intelligence, and social responsibility.

Walailak University Demonstration School was officially established following approval by the Walailak University Council and has begun admitting its first cohort for the 2026 academic year. The school emphasizes academic excellence alongside English language proficiency to prepare students for global opportunities and international education pathways.
The School will officially commence classes on May 18, 2026. Its first cohort consists of students from three levels: Grade 1, Grade 7, and Grade 10, with 30 students per class and six homeroom teachers assigned to each class. The inaugural cohort includes a total of 90 students and 19 teachers. One of the school’s key strengths is its intensive English language development program, designed to prepare students to become confident global citizens.
