Awards

On 7-8 July 2023, Walailak University Science and Technology Park, along with its researchers and entrepreneurs, received awards at the STSP Innovation Awards  2023 held at Southern Thailand Science Park (STSP) in Songkhla Province.

In the Commercial Innovation category, Walailak researchers secured three awards. Associate Professor Dr. Mullica Jaroensutasinee and Associate Professor Dr. Krisanadej Jaroensutasinee from the School of Science were awarded the first runner-up prize for their automated control system for water, fertilizer, and insecticide management for Tabtimsiam Pomelo farm, utilizing an IoT Sensor Network. The second runner-up prize went to Associate Professor Dr. Thanongsak Imjai from the School of Engineering and Technology for his fabricated composite beam innovation. Additionally, an honorable mention was granted to Associate Professor Dr. Wattanapong Kurdthongmee from the School of Engineering and Technology for the Automatic Rubberwood Log Rotation Machine for Wood Axis Alignment.

In the Business Innovation category, the second runner-up prize was awarded to Phornpanya Limited Partnership, a company specializing in producing and distributing processed seafood.

The STSP Innovation Awards 2023 serves as a platform for regional Science Park service recipients to showcase their exceptional work in both commercial and business innovation categories. Winners from the Southern Thailand Science Park will have the opportunity to participate in the RSP Innovation Awards 2023, a national competition that brings together winners from each regional Science Park (Northern Region, Northeastern Region, and Southern Region). The selected researchers and entrepreneurs will represent the region in the next stage of the national competition.
