CIA Joined Hands with COOP to Co-organize an Informative Workshop on WU Students Go Global and the Study in Australia



WU Students Go Global and the Study in Australia was organized at Khao Luang Chamber, Cooperative Education Building on Tuesday, 20th June 2023 from 2.00 to 5.00 pm. The event was developed by CIA (the Center for International Affairs) and COOP (Center for Cooperative Education and Career Development) to enhance WU students’ global view and to motivate their dream of international apprenticeships in the future. This program featured a session on sharing experiences on studying and participating co-operative education abroad, where WU students shared their insightful experiences on its excitement, knowledge gain as well as important step to prepare themselves before leaving their home country to their oversea destination. The presentation began from Greec via zoom system wher 4 hours different from Thailand. The presentation made by Miss Piyachat Panyasiripan, student from the School of Science and she is currently on research training at the Observatory, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. The sharing session followed by a panel discussion from three students from School of Political Science and Public Administration; Miss Sudaluck Jiarawan, Miss Nattaporn Kwanjai, and Miss Lalita Niemnoot which their learning locations were in Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia, and State University of Malang respectively. Students’ experience sharing ended by Miss Pattarakorn Kunarak, School of Allied Health Science with her wonderful experiences at North Dakota State University (NDS), USA.

In addition, the students had a great opportunity to meet with Ms. Watinee Kharnwong, Director (Education), the Australian Embassy Bangkok and gained knowledge on her presentation entitled Destination Australia Scholarship which the 2023 round of the program offers scholarship funding up to $15,000 per student, per year, and for approximately 480 domestic and international students commencing their studies in 2023 project.  For more information about application date and details at Email: destinationaustralia@education.gov.au, or visit www.education.gov.au/destination-australia         

Moreover, a talk on Studying in Australia added more information by Ms. Pattarin Wirojchoochut, Education Manager, Austrade Bangkok, Australian Embassy via zoom system. She emphasized that Australia was the sixth largest country in the world, has a population of around 26.3 million people and a total of 42 universities. In 2022, Australia attracted a considerable number of international students, with approximately 613,327 studying in the country, including around 18,654 from Thailand. The talk also included on the information of Australian education system, tuition fees, application steps, work rights and visas, as well as scholarships, including Destination Australia Program supported by the Australian Government. This program offers scholarships to students to study and live in regional Australia. WU Students Go Global and Study in Australia were attended by more than 80 students. The program can activate their inspiration to pursue international experiences and cultivate 21st Century skills and global awareness. Unavoidable to mentioned were students from the School of Political Science and Public Affairs, School of Accounting and Finance, School of Liberal Arts, School of Science, School of Engineering and Technology, School of Pharmacy, School of Allied Health Science, School of Public Health, Akkhraratchakumari Veterinary College and Center for Educational Services.

For the upcoming event, the Center for International Affairs and the Center for Cooperative Education and Career Development will co-organize a session on Study in Sweden with Swedish Embassy on Wednesday, 19th July 2023. Walailak University students are targeted to attend and undoubtedly they will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from Sweden Embassy, enjoy the onsite talk and participate in a mini Edu.
