Walailak University International College Students Donate Blood as Thailand Faces Blood Shortage Crisis

Walailak University International College students and staff donate blood to help amid the national blood shortage, as low blood supply creates a medical concern for patient care.

Walailak University International College students, academics, and support staff donated blood at Lecture Building 5, Walailak University, in the King Rama IX's Virtue Contribution event. The event was held under the collaboration between the Blood Donation Hub, Thai Red Cross, and Division of Student Support and Development, Walailak University, on 28 October 2022 from 3.00 - 4.00 PM.

The blood shortage crisis has lasted for a couple of years since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic as fewer people donate their blood because of life safety concerns. The Thai Red Cross and civil society encourage healthy people, aged 18-60, to donate blood at nearby blood banks, to help in the national blood crisis.
