Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn opens “the 11th Academic Conference and Exhibition Thailand’s Resources: 30 Years, RSPG for Real Benefits to the Public” at Walailak University

  Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presides at the opening the 11th Academic Conference and Exhibition " Thailand’s Resources: 30 Years, RSPG for Real Benefits to the Public " at the Main Auditorium, Thaiburi Building, Walailak University, Tha Sala, Nakhon Si Thammarat on September 19th, 2022 at 2.14 PM. On this occasion, Mr. Trairat Chairat, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Mr. Teerachai Chemnasiri, President of the University Council, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Acting President of Walailak University along with the administrative team, and Mr. Pornchai Juthamas, Deputy Director of the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiation of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (RSPG), and Dr. Piyarat Prinyapong Charoensap, Assistant Director of the RSPG, attended the event.


    The academic conference of the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiation of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn or RSPG has been held continuously. This year, Walailak University succeeded in hosting the 11th Academic Conference and Exhibition " Thailand’s Resources: 30 Years, RSPG for Real Benefits to the Public " between 19 - 24 September to honor Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for continuing the mission in conserving the nation’s resource, His late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s initiative, and providing opportunities for youth, the public, academics,  private and public sectors as well as policy-making organizations  to learn and appreciate the diversity of Thai resources’ potentials.


   Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn then watched the performance of "Keta Kabkan - the Legend of Mueang Nakhon".After the opening performance, Mr. Pornchai Juthamas was granted an audience with Her Royal Highness to offer donations to the RSPG foundation. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn also awarded School Botanical Garden Certificates and Local Resource Base Rank 1/ Signs Representing Endorsement the Royal Initiation in School Botanical Garden and Local Resource Base, and gave the opening remark of the 11th Academic Conference and Exhibition " Thailand’s Resources: 30 Years, RSPG for Real Benefits to the Public”. 


   Afterwards, Her Royal Highness visited exhibition booths featuring the works of RSPG and other organizations participating in the Royal Initiation in the southern region and other regions such as Princess Conservationist Exhibition, and the Master Plan No.5 7th year of RSPG capitalizing on integration of the digital resource database into operations to establish a Thai resource database. The database will serve as a solid guideline for planning the country’s existing resource – based development, resource registration, maintaining rights for local government organizations and communities to realize the importance of existing resources. Such practices shall ensure accurate data collection, prompt processing, reduction of errors and less paper use. 


   As for the RSPG exhibition, the content features studies with geographical diversities ranging from mountain ranges to the sea such as the exhibition " Microorganisms from Khao Luang the Private Property that Benefits the public" looking into local microorganisms useful for agriculture, testing and selecting efficient species, and accordingly developing suitable innovations to achieve optimal outcomes/ "Nipa Palm Abundance of the River Basin" promoting integration of local wisdom and added value of the products but still preserving local identity/ "Blue Crab: Marine Resource" establishing blue crab banks and learning centers educating local communities in releasing blue crabs to natural habitats and the application of Mueang Nakhon Culture. There are also exhibitions on School Botanical Garden and Local Resource Base as well as academic conference sessions, special lectures presentations by students/academic conferences on Local Resource Base by administrators and academics of local government organizations.

    This is the opportunity for organizations participating in the Royal Initiation to review their potential, competence, as well as database management in order to showcase the potential of Thai resources for sustainable mutual benefits. In addition, in the event, there are southern art performance, performance by school botanical garden members, food fair and local products as well.
