Walailak University signing an MOU with Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) to promote academic workforce and entrepreneurs of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI)


 

Walailak University signs an MOU with 17 agencies aimed toward collaboration in comprehensive research and development and shared resource utilization to promote and develop entrepreneurs in science, technology and innovation. 


    Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Acting President of Walailak University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 17 agencies namely Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), National Research Office (NRCT), 9 Rajamangala University of Technology, Kasetsart University, Maejo University, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Phawanaphokhun Vocational College, Walailak University, Surat Thani Rajabhat University and Prince of Songkla University (PSU) on September 16, 2022 at the press conference room, 1st floor, King Mongkut's Building, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (SAO), Yothi Road. On this occasion, Adjunct Professor Dr. Anek Laothamatas, Minister of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation joined the ceremony to congratulate on this collaboration. 


    The MOU aims to forge collaboration in comprehensive research and development by taking advantage of shared resource utilization and enhancing skills of entrepreneurs in Science, Technology and Innovation (SIT). The collaboration also focuses on enrichment of the academic workforce in 18 agencies to achieve the optimal benefit, share resources, knowledge, and plan tractable research application. 


    Adjunct Professor Dr. Anek Laothamatas gave a remark highlighting networking and collaboration under an MOU signing and teamwork focusing on integrated efforts to put research in science, technology and innovation to practice. Central to this is that all parties are on the same path toward one solid goal for long-term sustainability. 


    “I firmly believe that this collaborative effort will unleash the potential of not only our personnel but knowledgebase as well as expertise across the fields of research organizations in science, technology and innovation. The power will be twice as impactful given supports from higher education institutions,” said Minister of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.  Adjunct Professor Dr. Anek also stated the collaboration’s importance as a national driving mechanism for the common good. In addition, it answers to personnel development strategies of all parties involved for future work production. 


    “I hope that our work will become a success and I would like to thank administrators, faculty members and researchers along with all sectors for their contributions,” added Adjunct Professor Dr. Anek.
