      Assoc. Prof. Dr. David Harding, specializing in inorganic chemistry, has been recognized as one of the 10 Outstanding Reviewers of the Year in 2021 by Dalton Transactions, an award he also received in 2019. Dalton Transactions is one of the world’s leading inorganic chemistry journals whose scope spans organometallic, bioinorganic, and materials chemistry to advance synthesis, catalysis, energy conversion and storage, electrical devices, and medicine.

    Dalton Transactions is published by the Royal Society of Chemistry, the world’s oldest chemical society recently marking a milestone of over 175 year-long histories. With over 54,000 members worldwide, Assoc. Prof. Dr. David Harding, a Fellow of the society is the only chemist in Thailand to be given such an award. To be honored, the Dalton Transactions editorial team evaluates peer reviewers based on the number, timeliness, and quality of the reports completed over the last year.

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. David said, “Dalton Transactions is a leading journal in inorganic chemistry, so to be recognized in this way is a real honor.” He reflected further that one of the indispensable qualities of a reviewer is to keep one’s perspective and be unbiased and impartial in evaluating the work.

    “In reviewing, you learn to look differently at your own research and ask how you might be clearer in your presentation. You also learn how to better construct a story to tell others about your work,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. David. “Inorganic chemistry is a much-underappreciated field, but the latest trends include molecular magnetic switches, sensors, and framework materials and are expected to be vital in our increasingly technological future.” 

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. David Harding, who recently received the WU Researcher of the year 2021 upon the 30th Anniversary of the founding of Walailak University, is a winner of the New Talent Asia Pacific Award. He is also an advisory board member for CrystEngComm published by the Royal Society of Chemistry and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the journal ChemistrySelect published by Chemistry Europe, an honor given to a few scientists in Thailand.
