The Autodesk ASEAN Innovation Awards 2021 by Singapore presented the "Top Entry In Country'' honor to Walailak University's School of Architecture and Design in the "Future Pillar Award '' category. It focuses on educating and developing students' digital structures potential in order to establish a future pillar and earn a diploma as Thailand's top university in this field.

Miss Supanit Wisadsatorn, the head of the Architecture program, revealed she and Mr. Chaturun Phiboon, a lecturer in the Department of Interior Design, entered their work, "Developments of teaching and learning BIM technology in School of Architecture and Design, Walailak University" in the Autodesk ASEAN Innovation Awards 2021 competition. Surprisingly, they won the Top Entry in Country in the Future Pillar Award category. This award recognizes educational institutions that integrate technology in architecture and engineering for teaching and learning in order to help students develop their technological skills and assist architectural design work. Since 2014, the School of Architecture and Design at Walailak University has been a pioneer in the use of BIM Technology in teaching and learning to strengthen students' architectural design abilities, such as enhancing learners' learning potential through Virtual Reality (VR) design and presentation of their work, integration of teaching with Autodesk Revit, graduation thesis work and further development as a tool for faculty research in order to bridge the corpus of knowledge with teaching and learning, as well as academic services to the community and society. Besides, the school collaborates with Walailak University’s School of Engineering and Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya's Faculty of Architecture, and Prince of Songkla University's Faculty of Engineering.

She went on to say that, based on excellent instruction, entrepreneurs choose Walailak University graduates because they can successfully deal with this new software and technology. “As a result, the school has been chosen as one of Thailand's best institutions to create a future pillar, Ms Supanit said.
