Emerging Virus Infection & Disease Prevention and Control in the Next Normal in WRC 2022

  the Excellent Center for Dengue and Community Public Health, Walailak University organized a virtual conference on Emerging Virus Infection & Disease Prevention and Control in the next normal as part of the 1st virtual Walailak International Research Convention 2022 (WRC 2022) to promote academic work and research, produce quality graduates and to enable technology transfer. 


    The meeting was divided into three sessions in which 9 speakers were invited to give a talk. The first session focusing on dengue solutions in the post-covid 19 pandemic was presided over by Prof. Dr. Siripen Kalayanarooj from Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health, Thailand who specialized in dengue fever. The second session featuring mosquito-borne disease and autoimmune system was led by Prof. Dr. Padet Siriyasatien, M.D. whose expertise is in dengue fever, Chikungunya Virus and vector-borne disease. 

  


    Besides Thai scholars, the conference also welcomed international speakers namely Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siddikur Rahman, Md. from Begum Rokeyya University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shamarina Shohaimi, from Universiti Putra Malaysia and Prof. Dr. Dorothy and Prof. Dr. Julia from French Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD). The third session highlighting disease prevention and control in the next normal was organized in coordination with school of Public Health. Speaking in the session was Dr. Seyedahmad Seyedallnaghi, M.D. from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran.

      This has been the second international conference co-organized with international professionals. The center has also championed and maintained research collaboration in Vietnam and France, and produced quality postgraduate graduates. 
Dr. Jiraporn Jaroenpool, Lecturer of School of Allied Health Science and Secretary of the Excellent Center for Dengue and Community Public Health, said that the volume of participation exceeded the goal, concluding at over a hundred in all the sessions combined. Next year’s event was expected to host even a larger turnout. 


                                                                          “With a broadened academic circle, solutions to public health issues shall continue to grow both domestically and internationally,” said Dr. Jiraporn.
